Rooms and Food

Castellar delle Vigne Rooms and food is located in Castellar delle Vigne, a small hamlet in the municipality of Vinadio at 1026 meters above sea level. Castellar is a belvedere: from here there is a 360-degree view of the Stura Valley and the Maritime Alps.

Let me introduce myself, I am Giacomo, a boy born in 2002, with a passion for cooking and the mountains. After hotel studies and a few years of work experience as an assistant chef, I decide to pursue a project born many years ago from my family’s desire to recover a ruin and transform it into an accommodation facility.

The idea of recovering and sharing the beauty of this place was in fact born more than 10 years ago now, as a family project. The renovations were designed and carried out in a sustainable way, using materials that are as natural and locally sourced as possible. A bio-architecture that is based on a balanced balance between stone and wood, traditional and new spaces. The structure thus conceived is thus proposed as a real house on the Valley with its own balcony on the world.

Numerous routes for both hikers and MTBs depart from Castellar, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the Stura Valley.

We are in fact at the gates of the Maritime Alps Natural Park, with its Aisone Caves Nature Reserve, which can be reached by an easy loop trail that starts and arrives right in Castellar. Also from here starts the path that leads to Forte di Neghino, battery of the more famous Forte Albertino of Vinadio, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Upper Valley, its valleys and the town of Vinadio.

It is Vinadio itself, located 2 km from the facility, that is the “center” of reference. The village is entirely surrounded by Fort Albertino, built in the first half of the 19th century under the will of King Charles Albert, which represents one of the best-preserved military fortifications in the Alps. You can decide to walk around it and admire it externally, through a walk in its sticks, or through the museum route “Mountains in Motion.” Also in this picturesque setting, at the bottom of the village, overlooking the Stura River, we find the artificial lake: an excellent setting where you can rest and enjoy the view of the fort and the mountains.
