The "Spazio Lalla Romano"

In memory of Lalla Romano

The museum is spread over five rooms located on the first floor of Palazzo dei Conti Borelli in Demonte.  The permanent exhibition exhibits photographs, writings, personal memories, as well as documents attesting the strong relationship of the author with Demonte and the Stura Valley, but also his paintings and drawings, a photographic reconstruction of his Milan studio in Via Brera and the covers of his literary works.

Graziella Romano, aka Lalla Romano, was born in Demonte in 1906 from an ancient Piedmontese family of Jewish origin; he died in 2001 in Milan. She was one of the most interesting writers of the twentieth century Italian, but also poet, journalist (for the newspapers Day and the Corriere della Sera), Italian aphorist and devoted himself successfully to painting. On the second floor of Palazzo Borelli there is a multipurpose cultural center managed by the Amici di Demonte Association.
