Big Bench Community Project
The giant benches that have come to light thanks to Chris Bangle ‘s idea are part of the Big Bench Community Project initiative, a proposal created to support local communities, tourism and the excellent craftsmanship of the towns where these installations are located. A nonprofit initiative promoted by the American designer together with his wife Catherine, citizens of Clavesana since 2009, to unite the creativity of the design team of Chris Bangle Associates srl with the excellent craftsmanship of Piedmont.
A personalized stamp was made for each new bench that can be used to validate passports to visitors. Each stamp bears the logo of the benches and the name of the town in which they are located-a sort of treasure hunt urging you to unearth them all!
A number of giant benches have been installed in the Stura Valley: in Vignolo on the San Maurizio hill, near the Sanctuary of Madonna degli Alpini to enjoy the striking view of the Cuneo plain; in Moiola, not far from the Chapel of the Incoronata; in San Bernolfo, just below the Dahu de Sabarnui Refuge and finally in Pietraporzio on the Ecomuseum trail, reachable only on foot or by mountain bike, starting from Borgata Castello.
Before you embark on your walks, you can find the official passports of the Big Bench Community Project in Porta di Valle!
