A place of magnificence and beauty, the highest sanctuary in Europe
Situated between the Stura, Gesso, and Tinèe valleys, surrounded by a broad crown of peaks such as Maladecia and Bravaria, and built on a small plateau silently overlooking the Colle della Lombarda on the border with France, stands the Sanctuary of Sant’Anna complex. At 2,020 meters above sea level, it holds the distinction of being the highest sanctuary in Europe. Here, pilgrims and the faithful can gather and pray, amidst the silence of the mountains and the beauty of the landscape, and much more.
The Sanctuary is also a hotel accessible in the summer by car via a paved road, and the Rifugio San Gioachino has 30 rooms spread over three floors, accessible by elevator and equipped with private bathrooms, showers, and heating. Two of the rooms are also accessible to the disabled. The rooms are available as single, double, twin, triple, and quadruple rooms, all equipped with bed linens and towels.
Inside you will find two large dining rooms and a reception service open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, with staff available to provide any kind of information.
But that’s not all: summer camp shelters, dormitories with shared bathrooms, and a GTA stopping point: in short, here you’ll find hospitality and all the services you need.
All in a breathtaking high mountain environment.
Yes, we agree, Sant’Anna is one of those places you have to see once in your life!
